Default Smiter's boon nerf 2 year old

I noticed today that the after 2 years of leaving Smiter's Boon in its "essentially remove" state, nothing has happened. I believe this is when Anet thought it was ok to say "Screw fixing this, lets just remove it". Now we have TA/HB gone, replaced with CA which has seemly worse activity problems. Heroes are gone from pvp, replaced by Contest "winners" straight off old pvx metas. Heck they still haven't fixed the Zchallenge after admitting they didn't mean to remove heroes there.
Just wondering what every one who is left in GW thinks of the removal philosophy that has happened in the past 2 years. And I am not talking about skill nerf that make other skills better, I'm talking about leaving a skill completely unplayable, and the only example is Smiters boon (pvp)

If your Live Team loses manpower, you can't keep up with the game as much as you had before. Perhaps it's better to just lop off the parts that can't be kept up with so that focus can be turned to what's within reason to deal with.

They should do it some more, they could start off with ether prism. After that they could move on to some mesmer skills and some sin skills.

And also that annoying rit skill that makes it possible to spam displacement.

Would it be that difficult to give Smiter's Boon some sort of playable function? Such as a +1...2 Smiting Prayers bonus for 30 seconds or something?

I have no idea how easy/difficult it is to code these things so my inquiry is sincere.

Not that there aren't plenty of other skills to use.

I think most of the people that talk about how understaffed the team is use that too much as a shield to hide behind. I really doubt that it's that hard or takes that long to change damage output or the function of a skill.

I dont know much about coding. Or even what it takes to "update a game". But I do understand understaffed is a lame excuse. We have no real timeline for GW2, except that it might be out in 2011. My main concern is that if this is how GW1 is being treated when GW2 is being made, how is GW2 going to be treated when they prepare for an expansion pack? Why not pull half the GW2 team away to satisfy the GW1 fans, for a little bit? Instead it seems they pulled the one guy working on GW1 away recently to help with the GW2 demo.

OT, I guess nerfing the overpowered stuff is better than letting it continue. But to be honest I think I would rather have more random and frequent updates, than working on one profession at a time. I play all 10 professions, so to me thats more exciting.

Agreed. I am SO READY for gw2. I appreciate that they added some content to keep us occupied. But if not devoting as many resources as they did before to skill balances results in gw2 coming out sooner rather than later, then I hope they continue down that path.

i agree. what they are doing to GW will im goign to say give them trouble down the road. People on later forums are going to be bitching about how GW1 was left for dead(ahah see what i did there/ ) and how it will go the same way w/e they do an exspansion or GW3.

Just saying dont piss off the fans now.. so they dont go to Gw2 forums and spread the hate about it. just my 2 cents

To my knowledge, smiting changes are scheduled after the Paragon update. I'm sure Smiter's boon will be changed then.

"...These will NOT include major changes to the Dervish (and in particular scythes), non-“Imbagon” Paragons, and the smiting line for the Monk. All of those are things we’ve been considering for major updates of their own. None are far enough along to be a part of this update."

I'm not sure. I think it was just word of mouth. I just heard it from somewhere, but forgot the source. Maybe I'm incorrect. Although it might be somewhere on the anet diary.

Edit: Zesty linked it above.

What's with the swarm of 2010 join date members spouting bullshit?

The game was made with too many skills, this is what happens, this is being prevented in GW2's design.

You really think understaffed is a lame excuse? For a company that cannot count on monthly income?

In other words, the last time you heard about a smiting change for the monk was months ago. All I wanted to make sure of.
